Spring Cleaning

Better late than never, right? I finally got a chance to start Spring Cleaning today in earnest. I’ve been doing bits and pieces but I had been avoiding any major undertakings until today. Today I tackled our mud room and coat closet. I always underestimate how much work it is to pull everything out, organize it, and put it all back. I did leave the top shelf in the closet untouched. I looked up there and it’s all winter hats, gloves, and scarves. There’s no reason to move all of that stuff in the middle of Spring. It’s adequately stored. I’ll come back to it in the Fall.

I was making a mental list of everything that needs addressed and it’s mostly the closets. Mine is a disaster and the linen closet looks like some kind of explosion occurred inside. We have one storage area downstairs where our seasonal decorations are stashed away. That simply needs organized. The things down there probably only need half the space they’re taking up. I just didn’t take the time to ideally place each and every item I put in there. I’ve kept on top of everything that’s visible out of necessity. The more clutter there is the more of a mess it becomes when our toddler manages to get ahold of it.

So, closets and the appliances (fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, etc.) is all that needs taken care of. I should be able to get that done in the next month, especially if it keeps raining like it has been. If anyone local wants to team up for a yard sale let me know. We can use my driveway. I have the tables and chairs, plain tablecloths, and plenty of space to run one. I just don’t have enough time to put out signs and get the word out.

Back to work!

  1. I’m pretty caught up with my Spring Cleaning except for two things: the wooden blinds throughout the house (2″ white slats) and the oven. I definitely didn’t save the best for last. Lol

    1. I also hate cleaning blinds. We only have them in two rooms thankfully. I haven’t touched them yet. I’ll probably wipe them down when we wash the curtains.

I highly recommend a self cleaning oven when you’re next looking for one. It’s much nicer to wipe up the ashes than scrub!
